Webfoot Creative and TrackBack
TrackBack supported by Typepad Blog Technology
This is just a short post to remind our visitors that by utilizing the Typepad Blog Publishing Service, the Webfoot Creative suit of Web Site Design and Marketing Blogs allow for pingback via TrackBack support.
Trackback
Trackback enables you to post on your own blog, a comment, quote or reference to one of our posts or articles, and in return there is an excerpt of your post and a link (Trackback) left behind on our blog automatically.
Search Engine Spam
Of course, as with any useful technology online, their are the spammers that will attempt to ruin it for everybody. Much like the comment spam that has rendered the technology that allows you to leave comments on blogs such as this, next to useless.
Let's face it, who wants to have to read dozens of phentermine, diet and dick pill spam comments just to find a comment of value.
Fortunately, there have been steps taken by all the major search engines to identify comment spam and render any links from comment spam absolutely useless in terms of adding any value to PR, link popularity and search engine position or ranking.
Unfortunately, the spammers haven't quite figured that out yet, so they continue to waste time spamming comment fields, often with completely off topic spam, which in the end will eventually result in the very websites they are attempting to boster getting banned or heavily penalized.
The search engines hate search engine spam. Comment spam, Trackback spam, anchor text spam, content spam, cloaking, keyword stuffing etc, are all on the search engine hit list. So you black hatter's ought to sit up and smell the roses.
I know, where there is a will there is a way. Especially when it comes to working around algorithms and spam defences. The deal is though, that all this bleeping spam really makes a mess of things, and personally I think it should just stop once and for all.
Back to TrackBack and Pingback
TrackBack and Pingback are tools to help readers follow the flow of interactive content. Anyone linking to a Webfoot Creative blog post who sends the proper notification will get a link back in return.
What are TrackBack and Pingback...
TrackBack and Pingback links are records of links made to Webfoot Creative pages. A publisher sends a ping (or notification) to the Webfoot Creative source that a link to that wfc page has been made. Webfoot records that notification and builds a page including all the notifications, with links back to the linking sites.
Webfoot Creative uses TrackBacks and Pingbacks to help readers see the broader context and commentary around stories reported we report. TrackBacks are posted on the permalink pages for a post, directly above any comments left.
Anyone leaving a TrackBack is encouraged to continue posting dialogue via the comment area.
If you have questions or feedback about TrackBack and Pingback, we welcome your comments in either of two ways.
- Link to this story with a TrackBack or Pingback notification. Located last in the list of links below each post. TrackBacks are unique URL's to each individual post, so use the TrackBack for the post you are commenting or referencing.
- We'll monitor all links made to this page and learn from our readers what else we can do.
- Or you can send me an email to colin@webfootcreative.com.
If you're linking to Webfoot Creative via TrackBack or Pingback, we reserve the right to remove spam or off topic reference and links pointing to any webpage that otherwise compromises the integrity of the Webfoot Creative Vision.
